If the pipe has holes in the bottom to allow water from the groundwater level to enter the pipe, I don't see any advantage in gluing it together. If the pipe is for rainwater management or for surface drainage and is solid, then it makes sense to glue it together. Gluing it does not involve much cost or effort and should stop root infiltration.
